Workplace Strategy, Interior Design, Project Delivery
Richards Buell Sutton, British Columbia’s oldest legal firm, was ready to make the jump and remodel its office space completely. The previous workplace design did not correspond to the company’s development over time, which was a significant issue. The firm’s business ideas and strategy had progressed, but its office design had stalled and was ready to be updated. The earlier design was quite traditional; it was overly large and thus inefficient, as places often remained vacant. One of the company’s primary goals was to upgrade its space to modernize its internal brand, which would aid them in attracting and retaining younger talent, which was a significant concern for them.
The new office is a deliberate departure from the company’s prior, more traditional organizational design. With the help of AURA, Richards Buell Sutton was able to make its space warm and welcoming with the addition of wood flooring and a fireplace area while also displaying a high sense of quality in the details and finishes. To emphasize the company’s long history, timeless elements like wood, glass, and stone were chosen. Empty spaces were converted into more offices, ensuring that each employee had their own dedicated space, whether they worked in-office full time or hybrid. Overall, this project perfectly exemplifies what can happen when deep roots and tradition meets modern elegance.
