Amrize partnered with Aura to renovate three office locations to create a cohesive brand identity across all sites. Previously, each office had a distinct look and feel, lacking visual and functional unity. The spaces were also long overdue for renovation, having not been updated in decades. As the industry evolved with modern design standards and workplace functionality, the client recognized the need to modernize the built environment.

A key driver of the renovation was the shift toward hybrid work. The client’s workforce operates in a flexible model, and the existing spaces did not support this approach. Staff who travelled between locations often struggled to find suitable workspaces, and private offices frequently sat empty when their occupants were away, leaving valuable square footage underutilized. The redesign aimed to create more adaptable environments that reflect how employees work today, ensuring that every space is functional, inclusive, and aligned with the current way of work.

The design strategy centers on the concept of “Pillars of the Community,” aiming to evoke a sense of strength, unity, and shared purpose throughout the space. The interior design incorporates sturdy, elemental materials, supplied by the client, to symbolize reliability and support, reinforcing the company’s foundational role within its community. Prominent architectural features and communal gathering areas serve as metaphorical pillars, offering visual continuity and anchoring the space with a clear, unifying identity. This approach fosters a welcoming environment that encourages belonging, collaboration, and partnership. Additionally, the design presents an opportunity to showcase meaningful imagery, including Indigenous artwork and carpet, further enriching the cultural narrative and deepening the connection to place and people.

To address the challenge of visiting staff lacking dedicated workspaces, Aura’s design introduced centralized open workstations that are easily accessible and flexible for short-term use. Additionally, designers incorporate phone booths to provide private areas for calls or focused work, offering versatility without sacrificing comfort.

Overall, the updates have made the space feel more modern and comfortable. Staff now feel more inspired, engaged, and connected to their environment and each other. Communal areas, such as staff lounges, are seeing increased use, reflecting a renewed sense of connection. Aura’s approach not only resolved functional pain points but also elevated the emotional experience of being in the office.
