Aird Berlis LLP is a full-service Canadian law firm based in Toronto, with deep expertise across various sectors. With a growing client base in British Columbia and a team of lawyers already operating in the region, Aird Berlis partnered with Aura to establish a physical presence in downtown Vancouver that reflected their national brand and supported local growth.
Although Aird Berlis had a handful of lawyers serving clients in British Columbia since 2017, the expansion of its legal team in the province prompted the need for a permanent, fully functional office. Aura was brought on to execute a streamlined, construction-led office build that would meet the firm’s operational requirements, tight schedule, and budget expectations.
The Project
Aura developed a two-phased construction strategy to align with Aird Berlis’s expected timeline. Phase 1 focused on non-permit-dependent activities, including painting and new flooring throughout, lighting upgrades, preliminary electrical work, and the setup of critical IT infrastructure, such as the server room. This phase was designed to accelerate the project schedule ahead of formal construction approval.
Phase 2 commenced upon permit approval and encompassed all major construction activities. Working within an active downtown building, Aura effectively managed site logistics, noise control, and client access throughout the process. Despite the complexity, both phases were completed ahead of schedule, demonstrating Aura’s strong project management and construction execution capabilities.
The completed office at 701 West Georgia Street features 14 private offices, an expansive boardroom with an integrated coffee station, a meeting room, a staff lounge, informal seating, and open workstations. The design adheres to a refined aesthetic with finishes consistent with the firm’s Toronto office, ensuring a cohesive brand experience across locations. Delivered on budget and ahead of schedule, the new office supports the firm’s expanding legal team and reaffirms its commitment to long-term investment in the region.
