Sumitomo Metal Mining’s Vancouver office couldn’t comfortably accommodate visiting staff from other locations overseas. The company needed a renovation that would bring the space up to date while giving it an aesthetic that was in keeping with the company’s Japanese origins.

Modernizing an international office while sustaining its Japanese roots

Aura reconfigured the office space and floor plan to incorporate workspaces and meeting rooms of multiple styles. By adding cutting edge technology that automated cumbersome and time-consuming receptionist duties, we were able to remove the need for a receptionist and create more space. We represented the firm’s Japanese roots through subtle cultural design touches in light fixtures, furnishings, and decor. With the office’s new Trans-Pacific style in place, the office now has the feel of a workplace that clients feel comfortable visiting, and that overseas employees are eager to return to
